The Sultans

Bortecene Terlemez: Oud, Baglama, Percussion. A Ph.D. candidate at Georgia Tech, Borte is a man of many skills. He plays a number of instruments, but mainly sticks to the oud, a Middle Eastern/North African stringed instrument resembling a lute or guitar.

Ilkay Yavrucuk: Accordion. Ilkay is a very talented person. A Ph.D. graduate from Georgia Tech, Ilkay works as a aerospace engineer. He also has a passion for music and plays accordion as well as bass guitar.

Berk Genculgen: Vocals/Guitar. Berk is a young and upcoming singer that definitely has a future in Turkish music. Berk and I are currently working on Berk's solo album, which will be released in Turkey once it is completed.

I play darbuka (doumbek), bass darabuka and traditional bass drum, davul and cahon (flamenco percussion).

Special thanks to Eric Peterson, a great percussionist and former member of the band, for being the first person to let Emrah Kotan and the Sultans be a part of his website.

Ziya Devletsah: Violin. Ziya is an accomplished musician who also studied at Ankara State Conservatory. He has recorded with some artists in Atlanta, and can be heard on Joseph Patrick Moore's new album, Drum and Bass Society, Volume I. Aside from his talent, Ziya is a phenomenal person and a great friend of mine.
